Clark R. James, 81, of Glenville, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, from injuries sustained in an auto accident at Weston.

He was born on Leatherbark near Cedarville, Gilmer County, the son of the late William W. and Alma Reed James.

He served three terms as Gilmer County sheriff and was a Gilmer County commissioner. He was a former manager of Spencer Livestock Exchange and a member of Lower Steer Run Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Helen R. James; one son, Gregory C. James of Glenville; and two brothers, William T. James of Ravenswood and Sammuel A. James of Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, Boyd, Parker, Justus, Charles, David and John James, and three sisters, Mildred White, Nora Smith and Mary Alltop.

Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Meadow Lane Cemetery, Glenville.
