William Lovett, 2nd son of William and Mary Lovett, born the 3rd January 1877 in Hay-on-Wye, moved with his parents and siblings to the village of Aberystruth in 1880. At age 15 he was working at the local colliery, the morning of 22nd March 1892 he travelled to work on the colliery train, he dismounted before it had fully stopped and his leg became trapped. Despite medical attention William died the following day at his home from the injuries. Coroners Inquest found it a tragic accident. William was buried in Brynmawr Cemetery.
