Mildred R. Dean, 89, died at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011, in her residence. She was born in Summitville, Indiana on March 3, 1922 to the late Lawrence and Dee Pearl (Linn) Miller. She married Charles N. Dean on May 10, 1941 and he preceded her in death on November 3, 2002.She worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Factory in Gas City for 18 years.Mildred was a member of the Christian Church of Gas City and a former Girl Scout Leader.Mildred enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and making crafts for her cherished family and friends.She was always a loving person and always took the time to help others in need. She was an avid racing fan, especially of NASCAR.


Survivors include her sons, Joe N. (Sarah) Dean, Flat Creek, Tenn., David L. Dean; daughter, Betsy J. (Richard) Jefferies; grandchildren, Daniel Dean, Sara (Vurley) Shaw, Dean Ricks, David (Beth) Ricks, Matthew Dean, Joshua Dean; step grandchildren, Clint Smith, Traci Runyan; 14 great-grandchildren; step great-grandson, Daniel McClenney, KIA, Afghanistan, USMC.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Dee Pearl Miller; husband, Charles Dean; sisters, Marilyn Cox and Martha Louise Miller; step-grandchild, Veda McClenney; and great-grandson,Ryan Dean .
