Henry J. Adams, 86, of Hanover R. 4. a retired laborer, died Friday at 1:30 p.m. at his home after a lingering illness. He was the son of the late Thomas and Annie Stonesifer Adams. Mr. Adams, a past president of the Adams County Firemen's association, was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Edge Grove, and Holy Name Society and Centennial Fire Company. His wife, Mrs. Emma C. Lawrence Adams, died 33 years ago. Surviving are eight children. Mrs. Annie Little, Mrs. Evelyn Smith, Mrs. Savilla Kuhn and William and Robert Adams, all of Hanover R. 4; Mrs. Mary Smith, Abbottstown R. 1; Edward Adams, New Oxford R. 1, and Richard Adams, Hanover R. 5; 39 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three brothers, Levi Adams, McSherrytown; George Adams, Gettysburg, and Emmanuel Adams, Thomasville R. 1. Funeral services Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. with prayers at the Walter Funeral Home, McSherrystown, followed by Requiem Mass at 8:45 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. His pastor, Rev. John P. Bolen, will be celebrant. Interment in the parish cemetery.
