On July 29, 1944 Arla was united in marriage to Betty Mounce and to their union two sons were born. Betty preceded him in death on December 2, 1998.
Survivors include his sons; Robert Blaylock and wife, Susan, Edgar Springs, Missouri and Steven Blaylock and wife, Nancy, Buckeye, Arizona; grandchildren; Marsha Plasse, Daniel Blaylock and Sarah Turner; and five great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Mary Blaylock; his wife, Betty; three brothers, Alva, Allen, Billy Blaylock.
Arla worked in the Pattonville, Missouri area for many years, holding several different jobs. He decided the city life wasn't for him, so he returned to country living, working in the timber. He loved the outdoors, so after retiring he spent his time hunting and fishing. He was also quite talented in wood working, creating many items for his family and friends. He was a loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service for Arla W. Blaylock will be Friday, May 6, 2011 at 1:00 P.M., at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary, with Jerry Blaylock and Jim Blaylock officiating. Music will be provided by the Blaylock Family. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M.
Interment will be in the Stagner Cemetery, Salem, Missouri
(I knew this person for about 4 years, and I have never met a kinder and gentle soul than Arley. He never had a bad word to say about anybody.)
