Freida Schikman, died April 29th, 2011. Freida was born June 10th, 1918 in Houston, Texas. She was married for 64 years to Edel Schikman who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents Morris and Esther Shafer, sisters; Beatrice Wilkenfeld, Pauline Sampson, Jeanette Sheinberg and brothers Phillip and Jerome Shafer. She is survived by her son Dr. Charles Schikman his wife Lana Schikman nee Karlinsky, and two grandchildren Gary and Stacy Schikman. She was godmother to Scott Chaiet. Freida grew up in Houston and attended Jeff Davis High School. She worked at Humble Oil during WW2 while her husband was a sergeant in the army in Europe. She lived in Baytown but had been for the last 6 years residing at University Place in Bellaire. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm May 4, 2011 at Adath Israel Cemetery 4700 Airline Dr. Contributions can be made to National Alliance for Mental Health.
