I went by 'Northover' from the time I was 3. My mother, Frances Lemon, married Ross Dragoo [biological father] September 22, 1930 in Blanchard, IA. They were divorced January 13, 1931 in Nodaway County, MO. I was born July 31, 1931 in Maryville, MO. Frances Dragoo was married to Alfred Northover on July 7, 1933 in Savanna, Mo. I was married Jan. 14, 1951 in Des Moines, IA and then I was adopted by Alfred Northover Aug. 3rd, 1951 in Bedford, Ia. (PB)

Phyllis Jean Blend of Benton, AR, died peacefully Monday May 2, 2011 at Saline County Hospice in Benton, AR.
Phyllis was born July 31, 1931, in Maryville, MO, to Ross Dragoo and Francis Lemon. She was adopted by Alfred Northover at the age of three in Bedford, IA. Phyllis graduated from Bedford High School and then she attended American Institute of Business in Des Moines.
She met and married James Frederick Blend in Des Moines in 1950. They had three fine children.
Phyllis was a homemaker and also involved in Real Estate in various capacities for a number of years. She was a prior member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Urbandale and also served as their Secretary.
Phyllis loved to do some traveling and spend time with Family and friends. During her later years she enjoyed sitting in her dining room and watching the birds.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by sons, James F. Jr (Karen) of Eldridge, IA, Steve (Debbie) Bryant, AR; and a daughter, Diane (Greg), Tucson, AZ; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Blend Family Trust, 1722 Yorkshire Dr., Bryant, AR 72015.
