Ardella M. Stahl, age 87, a resident of Portage, and formerly of Griffith, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011.
She was born on August 12, 1923 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Frank and Edna Littlefield. Ardella was married to Leroy Stahl on June 3, 1958 and he preceded her in death on February 27, 1995.
Ardella was a waitress for over 48 years and worked with the Prime Minister Restaurant, Tom's Steak House, and Vogels Restaurant, among others. Ardella was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 100 Auxiliary.
Ardella enjoyed crocheting, crafting, dress making, and family.
Ardella is survived by her loving family; sons: James Foster of Portage, Stephen (Jo Ann) Foster of Niles, MI, Chris (Rocio) Foster of Mongolia, China and Virgil (Marilyn) Stahl of South Bend; daughters: Sheila (Mr.Al) Latta of Portage, Janelle Morales of Portage, Roxanne (Keith) Banks of Port Aransas, TX and Lori (Daniel) Fernandez of Valparaiso; 31 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren and other loving family and dear friends.
Ardella was preceded in death by parent, Francis Nottingham; mother, Edna Williams; husband, Leroy Stahl; husband, James Foster; son, Tim Foster; daughter, Patricia Foster; grandson, Errol J. " Che'" Wiltz Jr., and great granddaughter, Kayla Dills.
A visitation for Ardella Stahl will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with an American Legion Post 100 Auxiliary service at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service for Ardella Stahl will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Porter officiating. Burial will be at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Memorials in Ardella's memory may be made to V.N.A. Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
