Funeral services for Erma Adams, 92, of Chamberlain, will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at St. James Catholic Church in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain. Visitation will be Thursday, April 28 at St James Catholic Church in Chamberlain from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm. with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m.

Erma Maxine Yarian was born February 27, 1919 to Orville and Elva Mae (Hurford) Yarian at Nappanee, Indiana. She moved with her family to a farm near Etna Green, Indiana where she attended grade school.
Her family then moved to Claypool, Indiana where she finished her high school education, graduating in 1937. After graduation she worked doing house work, clerked in a grocery store and worked as a telephone operator.
On June 24, 1939, Erma was united in marriage to Harold G. (Jack) Adams, "Shrimp" in Warsaw, Indiana at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They farmed for five years in Indiana.
In 1944, they moved with their family to Chamberlain where her husband was involved in the produce business with his father. A few years later Erma and Jack started Adams Insurance Agency. Erma helped Jack in the Insurance Agency for several years and later the business was sold to their son Bill.
Erma was a member of St. James Catholic Church, St. James Altar Society, and Chamberlain Hospital Auxiliary. She helped at the Hospital Gift Shop for many years.
Erma passed away on April 25, 2011 at her home in Chamberlain at the age of 92 years. Gratefully sharing her life are her seven sons Gerald "Jerry" and wife Sue of Norfolk, NE, Mike and wife Cathy of Kansas City, MO, Tom and wife Patty of Lead, SD, Pat of Sioux Falls, Bill and wife Cindy of Chamberlain, Paul and wife Carol of Sioux Falls, SD, Don and wife Cheryl of Hartford, SD; two daughters Jackie Carlson of Seattle, WA and Pam Thiel and husband Paul of Rancho Mirage, CA; a daughter-in-law Roberta Adams of Cedar Rapids, IA; a sister-in-law Doris Yarian of Mentone, IN; 25 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. Preceding her in death were her husband Jack, three sons David Adams, Steven Adams, and an infant son; a son-in-law Richard Carlson; her parents Orville and Elva; three brothers Art, Harold, and Don; and a sister Helen Banghart.
