Myrtie Cothran
Mrs. Myrtie McCurley Moss Cothran, 82, of 228 Davis Ave. died Thursday, March 28, at Stephens County Hospital.
Born in Stephens County, she was a daughter of the late John and Ellen Cheek McCurley, and was married to the late Clarence Cothran. Her first husband was the late John Henry Moss. She was a member of Toccoa Church of God, Ladies Bible Class and was retired from Toccoa Casket Company.
Survivors include one son, Floyd Moss of Toccoa; one daughter, Miss Lola Belle Moss of Wrightsville; one sister, Mrs. Fannie Stowe of Eastanollee; three stepsons, Bill Cothran of Westminster, S.C., C.G. Cothran of Walhalla, S.C. and Freddie Cothran of Williston, S.C.; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary Ann Pickens, Mrs. Sally Honea and Mrs. Betty Morrow, all of Seneca, S.C., and Miss Rachel Cothran of Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Moss of Toccoa; a son-in-law, Fay Stowe of Toccoa; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Estelle McCurley of Martin, Mrs. Willie McCurley of Toccoa and Mrs. Wynell Ayers of Ringgold, 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday at Toccoa Church of God with the Rev. Gordon Shirley, the Rev. Terry Collins and the Rev. Don Swords officiating. Pallbearers were Ralph Stowe, Mike Stowe, Dwain Moss, Brian Ragsdale, Dennis Dailey and David Ragsdale. Burial was in Stephens Memorial Gardens.
Whitlock Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
