US Congressman. Born in Towanda, Pennsylvania, he engaged in mercantile pursuits and was president of the First National Bank of Towanda, (1870-89). In 1875, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fourth Congress, serving until 1877. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was appointed special deputy collector of the port of Philadelphia in 1885 and served Sheriff of Bradford County, (1889-93). He died at age 75 in Towanda, Pennsylvania.
