HILDA E. ARMSTRONG, 84, passed away late Monday evening, 25 April, 2011, at Lexington Court Care Center.

She was born July 18, 1926, in Galion, to the late Ethel (Kelly) and Dale Watt, the oldest of their four children. Hilda was an amazing homemaker, caring for her husband and children with a most loving and gentle heart. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano, painting, reading and cats. Hilda was a member of the First Christian Church for many years. She enjoyed traveling, and her trips to Hawaii and Arizona were her favorites. She was an avid collector of various types of dolls, especially Indian dolls.

She is survived by her husband, Billie Armstrong, whom she married April 17, 1948, children, Gale (Elaine) Armstrong, Keith (Bobbie) Armstrong, Barry (Debbie) Armstrong, Brian (Luann) Armstrong and Cindy Armstrong Edwards; twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Cornell and Donna Burger, a brother, James "Jimmy" Watt, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Martin and Linda, and a granddaughter, Alicia Armstrong.

Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Diamond Street Home of the Wappner Funeral Home, 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield. Additional visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Chris Whitehead will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
