John Baas, Spanish War Veteran, Dies At Soldiers' Home

COLUMBIA FALLS, Jan. 30.--John Baas, who entered the state soldiers' home here in August, 1924, died today. He was employed for many years at the state capitol building in Helena.
Mr. Baas served during the Spanish-American war as a member of company L, First Montana volunteer infantry. He was born in Zanda, the Netherlands, March 31, 1860. He is survived by his wife. Burial will be in the soldiers' home cemetery.

FUNERAL HELD FOR SPANISH WAR VET
KALISPELL, Feb. 6.--(Special)--John Bass {Baas}, 76, Spanish-American war veteran, was buried in the Montana Soldiers' Home cemetery this week with full military honors. Commandant Baldwin, of the home, who had served in the army with him, spoke briefly at the funeral service. Mr. Bass {Baas} is survived by his widow, who resides at the soldiers' home. He had resided in Montana 50 years.
