Glenn Edward Christian was born to the late Joe Turner and Lou Lewis on May 3, 1942 in Birmingham, Al. He and his family relocated to Detroit, MI in 1947.
Glenn was educated in the Detroit Public Schools. He attended Condon Middle School, graduated from Northwestern High School where he played the drums in his high school jazz band and attended Wayne State University majoring in Business. Shortly thereafter, Glenn honed his business skills working as a Produce Manager at A&P Markets, then broadening his knowledge in retail food distribution. In this time Glenn earned his moniker "Doc" from good friends.
Glenn trail blazed in the retail distribution markets within Detroit. He was one of the first distributors to diversify gas stations to sell products other than gasoline. With his natural charisma and love of people, Glenn embarked upon numerous business ventures such as Dawn Distributors, Dexter Market and the now thriving Uniglobe Construction Company. But his proudest accomplishment was his family.
Glenn enjoyed all sports and was a true world citizen traveling the globe and was known for wearing his signature baseball hats.
Leaving to cherish his memory are: Joyce of seventeen years, his daughters Dawn Eaglin (Charles), Leslie Hardy (Horace), Alexandra Colvard (Kevin Sr.) and son Bobby Stinnette. Five Grandchildren: Christian, Camryn, Tyler, Ashley and Kevin Jr., his cousin Lamarse Moore of Birmingham, Alabama and a host of family and friends.
Glenn was my friend for 28 years. I'll miss him. Go with God.
