Wynne as his contact. In August 1962, Penkovsky passed more then 5,000 photographs to British and United States Intelligence, of classified military, political and economic documents. On October 22, 1962, he was arrested for treason and executed the following year. In 1965 his journal, "The Penkovsky Papers" was published in the United States.
