His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born March 14, 1939, in Ava, Missouri, the son of Herman and Lois (Maggard) Fitzgerald.
Jerry was a self-employed carpenter who enjoyed panning for gold out West, visiting the riverboats, playing keno, participating in area euchre tournaments and traveling.
Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Lois Fitzgerald, of Bettendorf; his children, Pam, Beth, Kimberly and Jared; several grandchildren; his sisters, Dorothy (Richard) Kimmel, of Bettendorf, and Janice (Robert) Anderson, of Port Byron, Illinois; his brothers, Bill (Kim) Fitzgerald, of Princeton, Iowa, and Ken (Alice) Fitzgerald, of LeClaire, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and wonderful friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Herman.
