U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the law department of the University of Kansas in 1906, was admitted to the bar, moved to Oklahoma, in 1908 and began a law practice in Muskogee. He was the Attorney of Muskogee County, (1911-15) and a member of the Oklahoma State House of Representatives, (1919-24). In 1931, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-second Congress and to the next six succeeding Congresses, serving until 1945. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 77. Disney, Oklahoma, is named in his honor.
