THOS C ADAMS LAID TO REST
When a caravan of wagons with a train of California pioneers reached Tuolumne County via the Emigrant Trail in 1853 a male child was born on October 17th a soon as the caravan reached the State line.
The child was named Thomas California Adams, and he grew to manhood under the shadow of the Sierra Nevada Mountain. He followed the occupation of mining as a prospector and lived in constant hope of striking it rich and living on a competence. Later he followed the occupation of sheep raising in Merced County and was a foreman over shepherds.
During the last few years he suffered with failing health, and with approaching illness he was cared for in the home of his brother, George L Adams of Moccasin Creek. Both of the brothers, Thomas and George were single men. Later as Thomas grew worse, he was removed to a Sonora hospital where he died last Tuesday.
The only relatives of the deceased in his immediate family are one brother, George L Adams of Moccasin Creek and two sisters, Mrs Fred Reynolds of Stockton and Mrs Addie Brown of San Francisco, besides a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr Adams always lived a quiet law abiding life who cheered his lonely existence by occasional visits to his relatives when he expressed his fondness for children.
The funeral was held at two o'clock on Friday afternoon at the Chapel of C H Burden Jr with Rev M J Williams officiating, and the internment in the IOOF cemetery.
