Aunt Nora was born to Lucian Nathaniel Jackman and his 2nd wife, Nora Maude Brown. A few days after Baby Nora's birth, her mother died, 29 Jul 1907. Nora was named after her mother; raised in Barren County, attending Chestnut Grove school. Nora's family included her nine half-siblings from Lucian and his first wife who d.1905, Almetie Bettie Chapman. Nora married Meade Harvel Bishop. From this union came two sons; also a daughter who died shortly after a premature birth. A tragic accident claimed the life of Nora while on a trip w/her family. She died in a West Virginia hospital from injuries sustained when, as a pedestrian, she was struck by a car. She was an employee of District Six State Tuberculosis Hospital in Glasgow, and a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church.

OBITUARY 1.24.1965:
Mrs. Nora Bishop, 58, Glasgow, died in a Huntington WV hospital after being struck by a car as she crossed US 60 near Huntington city limits Friday night. She was the mother of Robert Bishop, Glasgow real estate man who is candidate for Barren County sheriff in the Democratic Primary, and Marshall Bishop, state parole director for the Glasgow area. Nora was the daughter of the late L.N and Nora Brown Jackman, and was a member of the Mt Tabor Baptist Church. In addition to her two sons and five grandchildren, she is survived by a sister, Mrs Buford (Mallie Jackman) Smith, and two brothers, Tom and Judge Jackman, all of Louisville. Saddler FH; burial in the Memorial Gardens.
