DAVENPORT - Funeral services for Hazel L. Newman-Carter, of Davenport, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Third Missionary Baptist Church, Davenport, with Pastor Rogers Kirk officiating She died Sunday at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Orr's Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. She was born July 24, 1958, in Helena, Ark., the daughter of Louis C. and Bertha L. (Norvell) Newman. She was employed in private practice as a CNA. She married Wayne Carter on November 4, 1977, in New Orleans, La. Survivors include daughter, Andrienna Carter, Davenport; sons, Lewis Newman, New Orleans, La., and Danny Newman, Davenport; sisters and spouses, Linda (Willie) Bailey, Lorant (Joe) Tucker, Ula (Roosevelt) Miller, Latashia Cooke, Davenport, and Carrie (Andre) Brown, Chicago; brothers and spouses, Joe Holden, Freddie (Tavisha) Cooke, Adolph (Shelia) Cooke, Theodore Cooke, Michael (Juanita) Cooke, James Cooke and Dwight Cooke, Davenport; and four grandchildren.
