He was born on Montgomery Avenue in Portland, Shippingport on March 04, 1924 to Margaret Fahey Delahanty and Charles Edward Delahanty. He died on March 31, 1990, at 12:01 a.m. Saturday Night at Jewish Hospital with his wife, daughter, sister and nephew surronding him. He was a retired Metal Pattern Maker for the Falls City Patter Works, before that: Probst Patter Works and Vogt's Pattern Works. He joined the United States Marine Corps when he was 17 years onld in 1941 right after graduating from Ahren's High School. He was a decorated Marine with the Silver and Bronze Star, Purple Hearts, Presidential Citation, last left in his platoon, and several other medals. He fought in the Pacific Theater in the Japanese Islands and Iwo Jima (He was there when they put the American Flag up). He was also a proud Democrat. Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Louise Duncan, Daughter, Linda Delahanty Schrader, his only sibling, a sister, Mary Agnes (Agnes Marie) Delahanty DeMarsh, a nephew, Joseph DeMarsh, a niece Patricia DeMarsh Mann and a niece Agnes Marie DeMarsh Kiesler, in-laws include: Charles "Dale" Mann, Phillip Charles Kiesler. His funeral will be at The Church of Our Lady's on Rudd Avenue in the Portland Area of Louisville, Ky. He will be entombed at Evergreen Cemetery on Preston Highway, in Louisville, Ky. He was an Irish Roman Catholic by faith.
