Major League Baseball Player. He was an outfielder and infielder nicknamed "Socks", making his debut with the Cincinnati Reds on August 20, 1899. For nine seasons, he played with the Cincinnati Reds in 1899 and Philadelphia Athletics (1901-08). In 1901, he led the American League in homeruns with 9, a .334 batting average, had a 27-game hitting streak and led the league in homeruns with 16, in 1902. He ended his career with 1085 hits, 478 runs scored, 51 homeruns, 556 runs batted in and a .294 batting average.
