Dorothy O. (McCutcheon) Adam, 85, of Bellingham and formerly of Milford, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 14, 2011, at the Timothy Daniels House of Holliston, with her loving family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Adam.
Born in Burrillville, R.I., Oct. 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Annie (Simpson) McCutcheon.
She was the loving mother of Arthur J. Adam Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Nancy L. Petrillo and her husband, Pasquale, of Billerica, Elizabeth J. Leonard and her husband, Harold, of King, N.C., Susan Cavallaro and her husband, Donald, of Hopedale; and her cherished grandchildren, Amanda and Lindsey Adam, Lauren and Nicholas Petrillo, Kyle and Scott Leonard. She was the sister of Donald McCutcheon of Naples, Fla., Ellen Houle of Pascoag, R.I., Barbara Caya of Woonsocket, R.I., Bethley Guilbeault of Conowingo, Md., Helen Mumford of Woonsocket, R.I., and the late Alan and Malcolm McCutcheon. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Beverly McCutcheon; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Adam was a registered nurse, having worked at Milford Hospital for many years until retiring, and previously worked at the Wrentham State School and Boston City Hospital.
She was a member of St. James Church of Woonsocket. She loved dancing and music. Devoted to her family, she will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, at 9:30 a.m., at Cartier's Funeral Home, 151 So. Main St. (Rte. 126), Bellingham, with closing prayers at 10:30 a.m., followed by a graveside service and interment at noon, in Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Ave., Boston.
Visiting hours are Monday, April 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
