Mr. John Stewart Rogers, 34, leading young businessman of this city, and for 17 years connected with Pruitt-Barrett Hardware company, was killed when that building was demolished by the tornado.
Funeral services were held from his home on Morningside Drive last Wednesday, conducted by his pastor, Dr. R.L. Russell, of the First Methodist church, assisted by Rev. M.C. Dendy, Rev. John F. Yarbrough and Dr. G.M. Acree of Athens. Interment was in Alta Vista cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. J.N. Rogers, of the city; four brothers, Mr. Tom Rogers of Fort Myer, VA; Messrs. Bill, Ed and Jack Rogers, Jr., of the city; three sisters, Mrs. Jim Rogers of Spartanburg, S.C.; Miss Mary Rogers of Columbus and Miss Bobbie Rogers of G.S.C.W., Milledgeville.
