Ruth Pullen Brooks, 86, died Thursday, February 8, 2007 at the Northeast Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a short illness. She was born January 21, 1921 in Hatley to the late Nathan G. and Maumee Redman Pullen. She lived in Amory and in Tupelo for the last five years. She was a 1939 graduate of Amory High School and attended MSCW. She was married to Allen Brooks in 1947 who later died in 1996. During World War II, she worked at the Gulf Ordinance Plant in Prairie, Mississippi and she worked for several years as a legal secretary for several attorneys in Amory. She was a member of St. Luke Methodist Church in Tupelo. She was an artist and an avid gardener. Services will be at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, February 10 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Rev. Mike Hicks officiating. Burial will be in the Hatley Cemetery. Survivors include one son, James A. Brooks, Jr. of Olive Branch; three daughters, Carol Brooks of Memphis, Judy Marett and her husband, Larry of Amory and Lynn Ellis and her husband, Wilson of Belden; one sister Eva Grace Monaghan; seven grandchildren, Mandi Stanley, Kent Marett, Allen Marett, Rachel Kenney, Maggie Giles, Brian Ellis and Betsy Ellis Ward; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and by one sister, Frances Cash. Pallbearers will be Allen Marett, Rob Giles, Blake Ward, Bill Flynn, Brian Ellis and Jeff Wiygul...Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal
