Maxine E. Barton, 76, of 1514 N. Benedict St. Chillicothe, Illinois died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesdday, Feb. 16 1999, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

Born April 17, 1922, in Mt. Vernon, Il. to William and Mollie Coffman Sinks, she married Donald Dansby.

She later married Theodore M. Barton in 1947. He died in 1983. She was preceded in death by one grandson, three brothers, and four sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Donald Dansby of California and Michael Barton of East Peoria, four daughters, Janice Harper of Chillicothe, Judy Richards of Peoria, Christine Smithee of Edelstein, and Mary Didesch of Washington, Illinois. 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one brother, Robert Sinks of East Peoria.

She worked as a receptionist at Proctor Endowment Home for more than 20 years, retiring in 1980.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. at Weber Funeral Home. The Rev. Ray Harrison will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery in rural Chillicothe.

Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
