He was born on March 14, 1930 to Culbert Adams and Mandy Stephenson Adams in Flag, Arkansas.
Attaining several degrees throughout his life, including what he called a "Masters +", he enjoyed his years coaching, teaching school and utilizing his degrees, as a Principal and Superintendent of several schools. His career also included many years and retirement from the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of Harvey's Chapel Baptist Church.
Nelson was preceded in death by his son, James Michael Adams. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Argus Adams, Vonceal Adams, and Howard Dale Adams.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter and son-in-law, and grandchildren, all of Hot Springs; two sisters, and many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.
