Betty J. Banks, 78, of Culver passed away at home on April 11, 2011.
Betty was born on April 12, 1932 in Bryson City, NC, one of five children born to Harry and Minnie (Hodge) Dean.
Betty began working at an early age, spending many years living and working at the Biltmore House in Asheville, North Carolina.
She met and fell in love with Lloyd Banks. They were married on December 31, 1949 in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
He preceded her in death on December 1, 2006. Together they raised three children.
Betty enjoyed quilting and playing bingo, watching TV and especially spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Tommy) Gravely of Knox, IN; son Jimmy (Beverly) Banks of Culver, IN; sister, Polly (Robert) Dukes of Kentucky, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and great- great grandchild.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Banks; son, Donald Banks; her parents; one brother; and two sisters.
A time of visitation with the family will be held at the Odom Funeral Home in Culver, IN on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 11:00 Am to 3:00 PM EDT. Rev. George Heyboer will officiate services at 3:00 PM EDT.
Interment will follow at Leiters Ford Cemetery in Leiters Ford, IN. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association .
