Marie Henrietta Boehnke, was born December 2, 1905, on the family farm near Guernsey, Iowa, the fourth of ten children of L. H. and Anna (Schultz) Hinrichs. She was baptized January l, 1906 and confirmed March 28, 1920 at St. John's Lutheran Church near Victor. She attended Lutheran schools at Victor and rural Garner and high school at Guernsey. At the age of ten, she traveled by train to Mason City, to help her uncle and aunt, Willl and Dora Hinrichs of Ventura, with their growing family of seven boys. Marie was married to Theodore "Ted" Gustav Boehnke on November 24, 1925 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Victor. They farmed northwest of Ventura until 1964, when they retired from farming and moved into Clear Lake. They operated the Barrel Drive- in at West Union from 1966-1971.
Marie will be missed by her daughter, Lois Kotz and her son, Gordon Boehnke and his wife Sally.
She was perceded in death by her husband , Ted Boehnke, June 20, 1988; her daughter, Violet Marie Kelck, April 17, 1985; an infant son, Theodore Boehnke; Her Parents, and eight brother-in-laws and two sister-in-laws, Geo. Berry, Rev. Arthur Krause, Lester Bokrcherding, Carl Floerchinger, Herman Pueggle, Emil Ollenburgh, Ed Jass, Herbert Ollenburgh, Ester Hinrichs and Emma Pueggle.
Marie will be missed by her daughter, Lois Kotz and her son, Gordon Boehnke and his wife Sally.
