Loyal Wesley Bagley was the son of Samuel Thomas Bagley and Amy Arvilla Tannahill. He had one brother, Marion Leroy and a sister, Evelyn Pearl. He married Anna Platz. He was superintendent of the Burlington Transportation company's Black Hills division at Rapid City. He held a transport pilot's license and operated from various Nebraska airports for several years. He was a member of the Mutual Flyers club while he lived in Lincoln.
