Kathryn L. Harder, 71, 632 N. Third St. died suddenly at 3:55 a.m. today in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born on August 24, 1920 in Adams County to Noah and Leah Luginbill Ellenberger. She married Richard L. Hess on October 18, 1946; he died on July 14, 1979. She married Gilbert Harder on October 30, 1982; he survives. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and its Rosary Society.
Other survivors are a son, Patrick R. Hess, Fort Wayne; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Vicki J.) Meyer, Decatur; Barbara A. Hess, Mt. Vernon, Illinois; and Margo E. Hess, College Station, Texas; and two grandchildren.
There will be a prayer service at 9:40 a.m. Saturday in Zwick-Sefton & Jahn Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Leo Coughlin officiating. Burial will be St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visiting hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. There will also be a rosary service at 8 p.m. Friday. Preferred memorials are to the Adams County chapter of the American Heart Association or radio station WBNI in Fort Wayne.
Omitted from information provided to the Democrat for Thursday's obituary notice of Kathryn L. Harder of Decatur, were the names of four survivors; brothers, Noah Ellenberger, Jr. of Monroe and Vernal Ellenberger of Fort Wayne and sisters, Willodean Halberstadt and Mrs. Clifford (Vera) Hay, both of Decatur. Mrs. Harder was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
