Faye Kern Schulz was born in Laramie WY to Fred 'Bert' Kern and May Anna 'Polly' Cooke Kern. She was preceeded in death by her little sister, Vera Jane Kern who died in Laramie at 4 years.
Faye's family moved to California Jan. 3 1909 and resided in Anaheim. Her father and uncle, Walter ran a hardware/sporting goods store, taking tourists on hunting/hiking/mining trips into the mountains nearby.
Her mother and father were active in Masonic organizations and IOOF.
Faye attended Anaheim High School and graduated in 1918. She went to college, graduating in 1922 and marrying Hugo V. Schulz. They resided at a home at 300 Wilhilmina Street. During WWII, Faye continued to work and support her family.

After graduating from USC, Faye Kern Schultz was hired in 1922 to teach speech and social studies at her alma mater, Anaheim Union High School. She later became the drama coach and filled that role for many years. She co-wrote the school's first musical comedy, HEIGH-HO, presented in 1928. Her co-writer was Charles Walter, who later became a Hollywood director and choreographer most noted for his work in MGM musicals and comedies. Mrs. Schulz retired in 1963 after teaching at Anaheim High School for 41 years. She is remembered by Barbara Mahaffie as "My teacher, my friend."
Faye and "Hooks" never had children of their own but continued to keep in contact with the hundreds of students who loved Faye. She died in Anaheim surrounded by friends and her adopted "children".
