Antonia Ford born in Fairfax, VA. Her parents were Edward Randolph Ford and Julia Franklin Ford. Antonia became famous for acting as a spy for the Confederacy during the Civil War, later arrested by Union Major Joseph C Willard along with her father and imprisoned for this act. While a prisoner, Maj Joseph Willard fell in love with her and influenced her release. They married March 10, 1866. She had 3 children. Antonia died in 1871 from illness that originated from her imprisonment years earlier. Later Antonia Ford Willard was heralded by the United Daughters of the Confederacy for her deed.

Her first cousin was Maj Charles Edward Ford. Also - 1st cousin of Pvt, John M Ford, Co C, 43rd Btln. Va Cav & Pvt. Walter S Ford. Co D 17th Va Inf.

Question on marriage date by viewer - my logical guess would be 1864 as son born 1865

Joseph Willard (6825204)

Suggested edit: Did he marry his wife in 1864 or 1866? It says 1864 on his memorial and 1866 on his wife's memorial.
