G.C. Lang Takes Own Life
Death Result of Poison Taken While in Rooming House
Despondent because of his absence from his wife and family, G.C. Lang, 72, a roomer at the Gordon House, North Jackson and Gordon streets, took poison and died from its effects Wednesday.
No coroner's inquest will be held, Dr. H.L. Clark, coroner, announced.
Lang was for years employed as a carpenter by the Rock Island railroad, but had no pension. He formerly lived at 1108 North Monroe street, but with his wife went to Chicago several months ago to visit his son, Harry, who was ill. In Chicago, relatives said, he found employment as a carpenter but disappeared and was not found until a few days ago.
Relatives said he was subject to periods of despondency, and twice had attempted suicide. On other occasions he had disappeared from home. His son, Robert E. Lang was expected to arrive in Topeka today. Besides his widow and sons, Harry and Robert, Lang is survived by another son, Carl, also of Chicago, and a daughter, Mrs. Harold T. Day, of Chicago.
Lang's body was sent to the Peebler undertaking establishment.
