MOTHER TO DEBI, ROY AND PEACHES..GRAND-MOTHER TO JEFF, ROBYN, SHANNA AND HALEY... MY MOM WAS BORN TO MOZELLE VEREEN AND NATHANIEL MONEYHUN. BORN AT HER GRANDMOTHERS HOME ON JAN.31ST 1938 . SHE HAD A TWO YEAR OLD BROTHER NAMED "JIMMY". SHE GREW UP IN MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., MOSTLY LIVING WITH HER GRANDMOTHER, ADA AND HER GRANDFATHER COONEY. HER MOTHER DIVORCED MR. MONEYHUN WHEN MY MOTHER WAS A SMALL INFANT. HER MOTHER LATER REMARRIED TO ROY DEETZ, AND HE ADOPTED MY MOM AND HER BROTHER. MY MOM WAS AROUND NINE THEN, SHE ALWAYS THOUGHT OF ROY AS HER DAD. SHE WENT TO TOKYO,JAPAN BY BOAT WHEN SHE WAS SIXTEEN AND ATTENED HIGH SCHOOL THERE.(* ROY WAS IN THE SERVICE) SHE MET DELBERT LEE COOK WHO WAS IN THE ARMY AT THE TIME AND THEY WERE MARRIED THERE. I WAS BORN IN MAY 1957. MY BROTHER ROY FOLLOWED 13 MONTHS LATER. MY SISTER "PEACHES" WAS BORN 11 YEARS LATER. WE LIVED IN COLUMBUS GA. BUT MOVED TO MOBILE AL. WHERE MY DAD WAS THE SERVICE MANAGER AT TRAIL PONTIAC. SHORTLY AFTER THE MOVE TO MOBILE, MY PARENTS DIVORCED. MY MOTHER WAS HEART BROKEN AND ALONE EXCEPT FOR US THREE CHILDREN. I ONLY SAW MY DAD AGAIN TWO TIMES. HE DIVORCED US CHILDREN TOO. MY MOTHER LOVED CRAFTS. SHE MADE EACH ONE OF US AN AFGAN BLANKET. WE STILL HAVE THEM AND THEY ARE DEAR TO US.. SHE ALWAYS WORKED TO SUPPORT US CHILDREN, MY DAD DIDN'T PAY CHILD SUPPORT LIKE HE SHOULD HAVE. IT WAS SLIM PICKENS SOMETIMES, BUT WE MADE IT. IN 1981 MY LITTLE SISTER "PEACHES" DIED FROM REYES SYNDROME. MOM NEVER RECOVERED FROM HER DEATH.
MOM MOVED TO HER HOMETOWN OF MYRTLE BEACH, SC. IN 1991 AND WENT TO WORK FOR BELL AND BELL PONTIAC. SHE RETIRED FROM THERE AFTER MANY YEARS OF SERVICE.

I found this poem my mother wrote in her things:
Dear Heavenly Father,way up above
Please take care of the one's I love.
Watch them close, night and day,
Help them start life, in the right way.

Make them remember, after I'm gone,
the beauty of flowers, loveliness of a song.
The smell of roses, the love of others,
And remember a friend, and their mother...

Away from them, I'm not very far.
I'm the twinkle in that younder star.
I'm the dew collected on the leaves.
I'm the shade under all the trees.

So God please, take care of the ones I love.
While I join you, in the clouds above.
Make them all understand, it had to be,
I needed you God, and you needed me.

About Heaven they need to know,
If it wasn't true, you would have said so..
This is all I have to say about that,
Thank you God, your daughter, Nat♥
