Eugene Boutin
Eugene Boutin, 75, resident of Bennington for the past 40 years, died at Putnam Memorial Hospital Sunday night. He had been in frail health for the past year.
Born in Canada Dec 25, 1885, he was the son of Leon and Malvina Faucher Boutin. For the past seven months he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Francis Silver, 515 Safford St. Prior to this he had lived on Congress Street.
He was employed at the Holden Leonard plant when he first came to Bennington in 1921 and was with the company until it liquidated. Later he was with the Draper Co. in Woodford, the Watervilet Arsenal and the Village of Bennington Highway Department. He retired 10 years ago.
He married Desneiges Thibault at Aarmagh, Canada in June 1910. Mrs. Boutin died in June 1949.
A member of Sacred Heart Church and St. Jean the Baptist Society, he also belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Loyal Order of Moose.
Survivors are; three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Irene) Haskell, Mrs. Henry (Marion) Howard and Mrs. Francis (Antoinette) Silver, all of Bennington; five sons, Rene and Louis A. of Bennington; Gerard of Gardena, Calif.; Emile of Shaftsbury and Edward of Gardena, Calif.; one sister Mrs. Cyreas Roy of Quebec City, Canada. Thirteen grandchildren and one great grandson are left and also nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at Mahar and Son Funeral Home Wednesday at 8:30 am with a prayer and in Sacred Heart Church at 9, where a Solemn High Mass will be offered. Burial will be in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary will be Tuesday at 8 pm.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tonight and then at their convenience.
