He wrote the songs "Brother, Can You A Spare A Dime?" and "Over The Rainbow" for the film classic "The Wizard of Oz" in 1939, for which he won an Academy Award. He also wrote the revue "Americana" (1932) and the Broadway musical, "Finian's Rainbow" (1947).
