Composer, Lyricist, Writer. He collaborated with many great Hollywood composers of stage and film. He worked with Jay Gorney, Vernon Duke, Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen. He wrote the songs "Brother, Can You A Spare A Dime?" and "Over The Rainbow" for the film classic "The Wizard of Oz" in 1939, for which he won an Academy Award. He also wrote the revue "Americana" (1932) and the Broadway musical, "Finian's Rainbow" (1947).
