Daughter of Andrew and Helen (Gorski) Stroik. Wife of Peter Kasper (m 1924), Andrew Karpuk (m 1927), Walter Dreffs (m 1951) and Alex Romaine (m 1979).

Went home to be with the good Lord Wednesday, November 9, 1994. Age 84 years. Mary R. Stroik was born October 8, 1910 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Helen and Andrew Stroik. She and her family had moved to Michigan when she was a young girl. She married Alex Romaine who predeceased her. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church. She was employed by the Central Foundry Maleable Iron and was a member of the Local # 455. Surviving are six daughters, five sons and their spouses, Rose and Edward Dreffs, Mary Wheeler, Sandra Dreffs, Susan Heath, Wilma and Philip Rivera, Diane and Bob Kane, Donald and Marty Karpuk, Andrew Jr. and Kathy Karpuk, Albert and Bea Karpuk, Walter and Judy Dreffs, Daniel and Bonnie Dreffs; 48 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; her dear friend, Franklin Nickelson; one sister, three brothers and their spouses, Christine and Donald Johnson, Ben and Caroline Stroik, Anthony and Frances Stroik; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Helen Thompson and Alice Karpuk, one son, Edward Karpuk, three sisters and five brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. George Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. James Gavit will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday where they may meet at 7:30 p.m. Friday for a Wake Service. They may then call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. George Catholic Church or St. Mary's Medical Center Cardiac Care Unit.
