Theresa lovingly and expertly served her community in many ways. She taught at Bellflower High for 31 years, then continued to work for students, parents and teachers as a member and president of the Bellflower Unified School District Board of Education. She took great joy in visiting schools, working with students, and supporting teachers.
Theresa was very active in St. Cyprian's parish, as well as in many service organizations, including Delta Kappa Gamma, Soroptimist, PTA, NEA, BEA and YMCA. Her energy, devotion, wit and selflessness will be missed by many.
Theresa is survived by her husband Michael, mother Minnie Marta, 5 children, and 8 grandchildren.
Rosary Tues. Oct. 1, 7:30pm, Funeral Mass Wed. 4:30pm, St. Cyprian's in Long Beach. Burial 10:00am Thurs., All Souls. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Theresa M. Hersek Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o 6157 Faust, Lakewood, CA 90713.
