She said that her father (Mexico Cole) was riding a horse when a storm came up and a tree fell on him and killed him. When Juliette found out she told them to go right away and fetch bring him home. There were gold coins sewn in the hem of his coat, $10,000, he guessed that was how Grandma (Juliette (Chilcutt) Cole was able to live, on that money. Mexico carried such a large sum of money with him because he bought and sold cows and horses.
Mexico traded in livestock and occasionally took care of other peoples animals, may have even delivered some children on the way and may have been given the title of Doctor by the folks around.
Also Mexico had beautiful old english type hand writing may have learned that by a missionary thinks he was part indian, and also his wife Juliett Chilcutt...thinks she was part indian Cherokee and French per L.L. Sellers Jr. Need to check out Caruthersville Methodist church
