He began his acting career in the early 1940s, appearing on screen in unaccredited bit parts until his memorable roles as Armiston in "The Big Fix" (1947) and as police Detective Walter Brown in "The Narrow Margin" (1952). Some of best other film credits include "The Bridges of Toko-Ri" (1952), "The Defiant Ones" (1958), "Spartacus" (1960), "The Birds" (1963), "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" (1963), "Hang 'em High" (1968), "Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here" (1969) and "Twilight's Last Gleaming" (1977). For television, he appeared on "The Untouchables", "Bonanza", "Gunsmoke", "Adam-12", "Police Story" and many more. McGraw is recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
