OBITUARY:

Freeport – Joyce Eilene Giddinge, 78, died March 25, 2011 at the Hawthorne House after a long illness. Born January 15, 1933 in Paris, an identical twin to Janice, the daughter of the late Charles and Hazel Toothacker Stetson. She was the last living sibling of her family.
Joyce graduated from Freeport High School in 1951 and married Keith Giddinge that year. She was employed by the Freeport Shoe Shop until closing, then worked as a deputy clerk for the Maine Judicial Court System until her retirement.
Joyce enjoyed working outside in her garden, cutting wood and painting. As long as everything was clean and organized at completion, Joyce was happy. Besides her parents she was predeceased by siblings; Doris Waren, Roberta Whitman, Merian Stetson, Alfred Stetson and Janice Cray, her four angel children who died shortly after birth, and her daughter, Susan Diane Giddinge-Fernald.
She is survived by her son in law Rick Fernald, two grandchildren; Amanda Lynn Fernald and Ryan Allen Fernald, as well as great grandchildren Tommy and Leah. She is also survived by her brother in law Don Cray and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday March 29, 2011 at the First Baptist Church 185 Main St. Freeport with the Rev. Sandy Williams officiating.
Interment will be in Burr Cemetery at a later date.
