He was married to Sarah Martha Shepherd (1854 - 1931)7th December 1876 in Fairplay, Colorado. Father John L Dyer Methodist Minister (The Snowshoe Itinerant Preacher) presided.
Though he claimed Scottish parentage, Andrew's parents were Irish. Moses Nelson (b 1814)and Sarah (b 1819)
