Staff Sgt. Scott H. Burgess, 32, of Franklin, Texas died April 4 of wounds suffered from small arms fire in Faryab province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 84th Field Artillery Regiment, 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Baumholder, Germany. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Burgess and Jack Hamilton. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Burgess of Franklin; children, Haley and Amy Burgess, both of Franklin; parents, Sam and Deb Burgess of Mabank; grandmothers, Claire Burgess of Anderson, S.C. and Ruby Hamilton McMoran of Keller, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Kristy and Michael Green of Bremond; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam and Mellonie of Gause, Texas, Brad and Lynn Burgess of Franklin, Tony and Sabrina Burgess of Colorado Springs, Colo.; mother-in-law, Marsha Juhl of Franklin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Emily and Jeffery Tucker of Franklin; father-in-law, Chris Juhl and wife, Jennifer, of Hearne; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
