Ruth E. Anderson, 83
Ruth Hanson, daughter of Hans Peter and Anna (Anderson) Hanson, was born on March 28, 1918, at Nelson, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Fahlun Lutheran Church. Ruth attended and graduated from Longfellow School, District 10, northeast of Nelson.
On November 6, 1939, Ruth was united in marriage to Karl John Anderson. They made their home in Alexandria where they raised their five children. Mrs. Anderson entered the Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria in January of 2001, where she continued to live until the time of her death.
Ruth was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. She enjoyed cooking, baking, working outdoors and visiting with friends and family.
Mrs. Anderson died on Friday, June 29, 2001. She is survived by one son, Carl V. Anderson of Alexandria; four daughters: Karlene (Gary) Ophaug of Edina; Mary (Gayle) Draxten of Duluth; Carol (Tom) Krenz of Alexandria; Linda Anderson of Bakersfield, CA; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Sid Hanson of Alexandria and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl John Anderson; parents: Hans Peter and Anna Hanson; five brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 3, 2001, 11 a.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Keith Forrester officiating.
Pallbearers were Carl Anderson, Gary Ophaug, Tom Krenz, Gayle Draxten, Andrew Anderson and William Hanson.
Interment was at the Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Services were directed by Petermeier's Alexandria Funeral Care and Cremation Service.
