Melvin was the first child born to Tom and Roxie Stidham Pounds. He married Hazel Lee Sutton Feb. 3, 1938 in Davenport, Ok. He and Hazel moved their young family to Lake County, California in 1946 where they lived the rest of their lives. To this union was born four girls: Devorah JoAnn, Melba Ray, Karen Sue and Sharon Lou (identical twins).
Melvin was shop foreman for the county of Lake before his retirement. He was a talented musician with a beautiful bass voice who loved playing his electric steel guitar.
