The Historical Atlas of FOrd County says he was born in Maryland. Emigrated to Ohio at age 7, then to Ohio for about 30 years. He farmed in Patton Township, Ford County, for 18 years, and then to Elliott and opened a meat market.
For over a month he could not lay in his bed, but had to sleep in his chair. He was found dead in his chair at his home in Elliott. He was twice married - first to Salome Crise, with whom he had ten children. After her death, he married Mrs. Jane (Tingler) Culbertson on 7 Oct 1880. (Not sure what happened to her.)
