Pembroke - James Seaborn Greene, 84, died Tuesday evening under the care of Hospice Savannah. Mr. Greene made Pembroke his home after returning from his service in WWII. He was a veteran of the Air Force and flew 49 missions as a tailgunner on a B25 of the 490th Bomber Squadron. During WWII, he flew his missions in the China/Burma/India Theatre. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and several other honors for his service in the Air Force. Mr. Green also served as a purchasing agent for Fort Stewart for over 30 years. He was also a member of Pembroke Christian Church for over 60 years, served as treasurer for the Church over 50 years and was an appointed Elder of the Church.

He is survived by three sisters, Beulah Kunta, Lucille Bell and Judy Smith, all of Hinesville; one brother, Robert Greene of El Dora; three grandchildren, Brian Greene of Flowery Branch, Kristen Justice and Jessica Jones, both of Braselton; two great-grandchildren, Austin Jones of Braselton and Ashley Greene of Flowery Branch.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Elder Spencer Moore officiating. Interment will be in Northside Cemetery. Morrison Funeral Home, Pembroke, Georgia.
