He was the son of Benjamin Albertson and Sarah Walton and one of 8 children.

About 1766 Josiah married Ann Chew who was the daughter of Thomas Chew and Mary Wood. Together they had the following children:

Josiah served as a Private during the Revolutionary War in Captain Maddox's Company, 1780, as a member of the Gloucester Township and County Militia, NJ. (DAR National Nbr 456661. He is listed in the "Notes on Old Gloucester County", p. 29 next to John Ware [Sr] whose son (John Ware Jr.) married Josiah's daughter Mary Albertson.

Josiah's death date was obtained from cemetery records at Gloucester County Historical Society. It states he died 12 Jul 1827 age 86Y 3M 18D. This calculates to a birth date of 24 Mar 1741.

Josiah's gravestone is almost unreadable. Some time ago it broke off at the base and fell over. Its in the last row of the cemetery next to his wife's stone which has also broken off.
