Louis Francis Kraetke, who was affectionately called Lou or Louie, as did his other siblings, graduated from St. Anthony's High School in Detroit, Michigan in 1934. As a child he was extremely close to his older brother Richard and they grew up as best pals. As an adult, he supported his family working as a self-employed plumber and in his spare time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
